Hotel Bidding Strategy Generator Example

Example: 4 Star Hotel Bidding in Dallas, Texas for the Galleria - Dallas North Bidding Area

This example will demonstrate how to use the Priceline^® Hotel Bidding Strategy Generator provided on this site. The example generates a 4 star hotel bidding strategy for the Galleria - Dallas North Bidding Area in Dallas, TX.

Each step is listed and explained.

Step 1: Provide details about each hotel bidding area in the target city for your trip.

After entering Dallas, TX and the dates of the stay on the Name Your Own Price^® for Hotels page, the user is presented with every bidding area in Dallas, Texas.

The following areas are displayed:

• Arlington - Grand Prairie
• Arlington South
• DFW Airport North
• DFW Airport South
• Dallas Northwest
• Downtown Dallas
• East Dallas - Mesquite
• Fort Worth NE - Bedford
• Frisco - Plano West
• Galleria - Dallas North
• Grand Prairie South
• Irving - Las Colinas
• Knox - Northpark
• Lewisville
• Market Center - DAL Love Field
• Park Central
• Richardson - Plano

First, the user selects Arlington - Grand Prairie and notes the maximum star level enabled below the area list. For Arlington - Grand Prairie, the maximum star level enabled is 3 - Star Upscale. The area name of Arlington - Grand Prairie and the maximum star level of 3 - Star Upscale are entered in step 1 and the "Add Area" button clicked. The area is added to the "Areas Defined" table. The user then deselects the Arlington - Grand Prairie.

Next, the user selects Arlington South and notes the maximum star level enabled below the area list. This time the maximum star level enabled is 2 - Star Moderate. The area name of Arlington South and the maximum star level of 2 - Star Moderate are entered in step 1 and the "Add Area" button clicked. The area is added to the "Areas Defined" table. The user then deselects the Arlington South.

The same actions are performed for each of the remaining bidding areas. After which, the "Areas Defined" table is populated as follows:

Step 2: Select the star level for your stay.

In this example we are targeting the 4 - Star Deluxe level, the user selects 4 - Star Deluxe from the drop-down list.

Step 3: Select the area for your stay.

In this example we are targeting the Galleria - Dallas North area, the user selects Galleria - Dallas North from the drop-down list.

Step 4: Define your bidding range.

By checking on the prices of various 4 star level hotels in the Galleria area, the user finds that the lowest available rate for those hotels is $100/night for the dates of the desired stay. Using the 40% and 75% guideline for bidding range, the user enters $40 for the starting bid and $75 for the maximum bid.

Step 5: Choose the strategy generation mode.

For this example, we will use the Expert mode to generate the most bids giving the user the best chance of receiving the lowest price.

Step 6: Generate your bidding strategy.

The user clicks the "Generate strategy now" button and the following strategy is generated:
